Canadian indie music darlings and critic fave’s Sianspheric have returned to grace us once again with their magical and mysterious brand of shoegazing pop. Sianspheric is literally shoegazing as I can’t imagine doing much else besides thinking about sleeping to their slow style of music. It may not be the kind that you would expect from that of Jesus and Mary Chain because Sianspheric is much more mellow and atmospheric. The Sound of the Colour of the Sun marks their fourth album (all on Sonic Unyon) and the return of guitarist Paul Sinclair who left in 1996 and a new bass player, Locksley Taylor. Their sound is as fresh as always and a nice treat to put on after a hard day at work. Sianspheric’s goal with their music is to reach into your mind, further than you ever thought possible with music and to stir up those emotions that you never even knew existed. More like their debut, Somnium than their other albums and it expands Sianspheric’s sound more than you thought droning guitars could ever reach. This is a Canadian band that we should all be proud of.
