Just added it on the left side. Damn, this is one catchy track. I'm keeping my eyes out for Gotye. I think he's onto something here.

Belgium is not noted for producing great pop music. I can just about recall Plastique Bertrand from the seventies, but other than that, Gotye is the only Belgian artist of late that I have heard. Perhaps the fact that he is now based in Melbourne Australia may have something to do with it.

"Somebody that I Used to Know" is one of those singles which grabs you the instant you hear it. The album from which it is drawn, "Making Mirrors", is a patchy quilt of different styles and qualities, but this, the first single from it, stands out a mile. There is a lot of Sting in Gotye's voice and a fair bit of Peter Gabriel, but what makes this different is that it is unconventionally infectious. It apparently came out of nowhere and made it big on the sole half decent radio station which plays nationwide in the UK, and failed on the more mainstream stations. The female voice of Kimbra adds an extra dimension. In short, a nice song with enough distinctiveness to make it interesting.
