One of the rarest of rare bluesmen, Willie Walker recorded only four sides in his lifetime. And two of those remain unissued for some bizarre reason. Therefore this is the only ever single released by the man. Like a lot of bluesmen between the wars, Willie Walker was blind. Rated by another great bluesman, Josh White (who was Walker's guide for a number of years) as the best guitarist ever, Walker was possibly the best of the ragtime-blues crossover artists. Sam Brooks puts in an appearance accompanying Walker on "Dupree Blues" which is an excellent example of smoothly flowing finger-picking guitar playing. Whether it was representative of Walker generally we do not know, because this 78 is all we have.
