Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I listened to the latest CD from Atlanta Georgia's Frostbite (Valentine and Other stories of Hope - 2011). Venturing to the internet and reading the bio I get the impression this is one artist that is extremely passionate about the songwriting craft. From start to finish this CD from Chris Compton a very deep, dark and dare I say entertaining statement. It has a very up-front and personal evil genius approach to it and even dabbles in Heavy Metal and Goth Metal. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Frostbite. This release is clearly marketed for those who like a male singer a mystique of say a Staind, Alice in Chains, Disturbed and even Trapt and Cold. I get the impression Compton is just rolling with what he knows as a songwriter/performer within all these songs. In other words they hit the mark remarkably well just being who he is. No doubt this is his dark outlet. Favorite tracks include the title track, (Metro) (Valentine) and (Hurt). All songs possess an amazing feel. The songwriting digs a bit deeper than the next artist. The playing and ambient musical scores are spot on and just makes the whole CD more enjoyable. Kudos goes out to all the work Compton put into this. Trust me when I say he is a very talented writer. If he wrote all these songs he could be bigger than any us realize right now. The overall vibe of the production is very passionate and compelling in nature.

I see Frostbite headed up by Chris Compton an unnoticed diamond in the rough. Every song is amazing, the musicianship is spot on and CC delivers the goods. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like. In close most famous artists out there have "it." I'm not so sure what it but Frostbite has whatever "it" may be.
