Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound & image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".

Today I spun to the latest self titled EP from Denmark based Francis Bowie. Venturing to the internet and reading the bio: I get the impression he is one artist that's extremely passionate about not only art in general but his songwriting craft as well. From start to finish this EP from Bowie presents a very evil genius type of mystique but is very groovy and danceable. Almost like a modern day David Bowie if you will with a much harder edge. It has an Alternative Rock-Punk like quality to it but should not to be underestimated or easily pinned down. It dabbles in what I would call dark rock but without the over the top hard rock edge. Trust me when I say this artist is somehow a bit scarier than Marylyn Manson. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Bowie. It's clearly marketed for those who like a male singer with a mystique of say a Thom Yorke, or even Trent Reznor. I get the impression Bowie and company are rolling with what they know as an artists and performer within each one of these songs. In other words they hit the mark remarkably well by just being who he is. Favorite track is (Sunny Day). All songs possess amazing feel and the songwriting digs a bit deeper than the typical Independent Artist. Within each one of these songs Bowie delivers pure musical mojo. Bowie is clearly a force to be reckoned with when it comes to any artistic expression - especially music.

In close Francis Bowie is a fascinating statement. Let me go on record to say he's one of the more brilliant artists I've ever heard. Like I said most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Francis Bowie have whatever "it" may be.
