Onyx - Bacdafucup: Part 2
I can’t believe that it was almost a decade ago when Onyx released their debut album, Bacdafucup. When this album hit the scene, the rap community didn’t know what hit them. It was more slamming than anything that had been out. It even beat Dr. Dre’s Chronic for best hip-hop album of the year. Fast forward to 9 years later. Onyx was never able to match the success of that album with two more albums out, the latest “Shut ‘Em Down was released back in 1998. While they will probably never attain the success they saw from their debut, they can still try. On Bacdafucup Part II, Onyx is back with a vengence and have provided one of the year’s better hip hop albums this year. With the odd guest star (Havoc, X-1) the main focus is on Fingaz and Starr. There are slamming tracks like “Bag 2 Dis with in-your-face lyrics and then they can cool it right down on the next track “Gangsta. Bacdafucup Part 2 may not put Onyx back on the map but it is a very decent album that shouldn’t just be brush aside as a bunch of has-beens.
