The Poets of Rhythm may be better suited in the Rock category but it is my thoughts that the Poets would be most appreciated by Hip Hop fans. The Poets of Rhythm were found by Quannum Projects co-owner Lyrics Born in his quest to find a live band to back up some of his tracks. He found an album of theirs in a record bin and was totally surprised to find that it was a current album as opposed to something that was done in the funk movement in the 1970’s. He was sold and once they helped him out on his album debut. With that out of the way he decided to pursue the band and produce their album that would become Discern / Define. What they ended up with is something that can only be described as funk for the new millennium. The Poets take many influences from the 1970’s funk movement but move so forward with it that it sounds current and fresh. You are hard pressed to find lyrics on the album but that doesn’t stop you from nodding your head to their infectious beats. This is a big move for Quannum Projects and it’s sure to garner some new funk fans from the Hip Hop crew that Quannum normally attract. Let the Poets of Rhythm funk you up!
