Hmm, a split full-length album? This makes a little more sense when you figure out where these two bands come from. Sixty Stories is a relatively new 3-piece band that is tearing up the Canadian scene. Painted Thin was their previous band (plus a member from the Weakerthans) and never really put out any albums. Sixty Stories was ready to put out an album but they didn’t quite have enough material to fill a full-length (7 songs to be exact). So in the meantime, their friends at Smallman Records agreed to put out the songs they had plus the 5 that they had recorded as Painted Thin. Make sense? It should and you should take note of this band. It is Canada’s answer to bands such as The Get Up Kids and Promise Ring. They are super talented and are able to craft some pretty nifty music. Jo (lead vocals and guitar) has a very unique voice that is high and wavering but it really adds to the waves of noise that they produce. The Painted Thin songs are just as good too except they have a different vocalist and a bit of a heavier edge.
