Continuing in the Nanci Griffith re-masters we are given Poet In My Window, Nanci’s sophomore album. While Poet In My Window may not be for Griffith newcomers, there is much to rejoice in the re-mastering of this album. There are many great songs and signs of a maturing artist. One of the most amazing things is that Nanci has written all the tracks on Poet, all but Jimmie Dale Gilmore’s “Tonight I Think I’m Gonna Go Downtown. Her voice is becoming stronger and more defined with amazing lyrics to sing. While the songs don’t quite grab you as instantly like the tracks on Once In A Very Blue Moon. There are exceptions like “Wheels a great storytelling song. In retrospect, this is a brilliant sophomore album from an artist who we would watch grow up even more and become a country / folk legend in her own time.
