This little 6 song EP arrived on my desk with little fanfare. You may not think this is strange but when labels try to get you to review their material you are usually bombarded with review tears and band photos. Skiptrace came with a brief modest bio and a letter asking if we would review the band. It only took me one listen to realize what kind of potential Skiptrace has. Their sound reminds me a bit of two bands, Seam for their pure independent sound that is crystal clear and well produced (by John Agnello and Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom fame), and Placebo more for vocal similarities than anything else. Their sound is very indie in the sense of carelessness in the arrangements but the brilliance comes in the simple but elegant arrangements. This Skiptrace EP offers but a brief glimpse of what Scott Pribble and Scott Sellwood are capable of. This album comes highly recommended from the desks of MusicEmissions.com.
