David Harvey is an artist that comes to us by way of Hamilton, Ontario and his debut album proves that David is worthy of a listen. David takes simple pop music ala Big Star and incorporates a subtle rootsyness to the songs. He bought a guitar only 5 years ago and it was as quick as that that he figured out that he was meant to be writing music. Write & Wrong is one of those albums that isn’t terrible complex but the simplicity of the songwriting is something that one rarely ever hears anymore. For the most part the album is basically his guitar and his vocals with a few other instruments thrown in on occasion. Some of the highlights of the album are “Deadpenny with unexpected introduction of a full sounding instrumentation during the chorus, as well as “Ruby.Red.Run which is a very catchy roots-rock song. People looking for great upcoming Canadian artists would benefit themselves with this album.
