Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound and image. There's something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever "it" is - they all seem to have "it".
Today I listened to the latest EP from New Hampshire based Composer Extra Garlic (Sean Veligor) who just released his latest CD entitled: "Root Cause" in 2012. Venturing to the BANDCAMP website I get the impression Sean Veligor is a modest musician/producer that's extremely determined, dedicated and passionate about the songwriting craft and being in a no holds barred Producer. From start to finish this CD from Extra Garlic feat. Veligor delivers and is a very entertaining musical experience all around. At times it pushes hard in true to form Industrial, but also covers a wide range of genera's from Ambient, Chill, New Age and even Alternative-Progressive Electronica It also reminds me of Beck, Mody and Prodigy. Any fans of any of these musical styles or bands will enjoy this latest release. It's clearly marketed for those who like a Sonic-Ambient atmosphere and movements that keep you guessing. I get the impression Veligor is letting it all hang out via this compelling 11 track line up. In other words he hits the mark remarkably well by just by being who he is musically. Favorite tracks include (A Task of Riddles), (Rotten Plums) and (Deluxe). All songs strike the perfect balance between Ambient, Chill and Ambient Electronica. The songwriting is impressive and digs a bit deeper than the next Ambient composer. Within each one of these pieces Veligor capture something truly special as he bares his soul and delivers what I would call pure musical mojo. It offers much in the way of passion and compelling-thought provoking landscape and architecture. The playing/writing and production virtuoso from Veligor is spot on and just makes the whole CD even more enjoyable.
I see Extra Garlic feat. Sean Veligor as a diamond in the rough, with an amazing amount of potential. As time goes by he will no doubt hear more from them. I also would be surprised to hear his music on Satellite Radio someday or even in a Commercial, Video Game or Reality TV Series. I'm also eager to see what the future holds for Veligor as an Independent.
In close most famous artists out there have "it" I'm not so sure what it but Extra Garlic featuring Sean Veligor has whatever "it" is.
