I've been following Jeff for a long time, knew him when he was still doing pick up gigs in Ann Arbor, which is where he's from. You can't even find his first album online any longer, which I have to say, he probably let slide as it was engaging and full of intent, but lacked the expertise and subtleties that he had as a side man. Fast forward through an EP and 'Somewhere in the Fade' another album of his and we come to this one. I give it 8 out of ten because it's a quantum leap ahead of his last album, due in large part I would guess because of his production change. In any case, the sounds, melodies, and overall treatment in 'The Atlanticean' not only take him light years beyond where his previous recorded material has been, but his voice has matured to the point now where he's really expanding how he constructs his songs. But I digress....8 out of ten because it took him too long to get around to this, when he starts to produce more material of this quality on a regular basis, it'll be a no brainer ten of ten. Jeff's an artist, and he takes the time necessary to produce his material, but he needs to think of the people that listen to it regularly if he expects to get ahead.
