Richie Hawtin is not really reknowned for his DJ skills, more for his sparse electronic arrangements he comes up with as Plastikman. Using exactly what the title states, two turntables, and effects processor, and a TR-909 drum machine and a crate of vinyl, Richie manages to hold the listener captive for the entire hour set. Holding you almost mesmerized as the next track is blended seamlessly into the previous, Hawtin never touches on anything that is remotely familiar. The tracks rarely vary from 128bpm but he still manages to be extremely improvisational. While the whole album is not entirely live you get that feeling from the seamless integration. Go watch him live if you ever get the chance.
