Converge rocks hard and relentlessly. You can find two camps for this band. Those who think they're brilliant. Others, who find them unlistenable.
I fall in the middle. I wouldn't want my entire music collection in this vein. But there's no denying the band's musical skill.
I do take issue with the vocals, since all too often I can hardly make out what's being sung. "Coral Blue" is the track where the band really puts it all together. This is the song where Jacob Bannon's singing works best.
This album is a celebration of hard rock. It's a race to the finish with "Predatory Glow" providing the final heavy hooks. The Deluxe edition has an additional three songs.
The more the better, since there isn't a dull moment. "Glacial Pace" isn't slow moving. I'm really drawn in by Kurt Ballou's guitar playing.

Ben Koller's drumming is noteworthy, as well. He's never overshadowed in the midst of some of the hardest rock I've ever heard. The beginning of "Vicious Muse" is just Koller drumming, and it's the highlight of a solid album.
