Sons of Otis are a bottom heavy sludge rock band. There is no denying the pure monstrosity of the thunderous sounds that this Torontonian band is capable of. They don’t hurry their songs along, by any means. Their only purpose is to shatter eardrums but they also have an underlying purpose as well, to shake your ass. Sons of Otis are able to do the ultra heavy sound but still maintain the Black Sabbath-feel boogie. Their lyrics are completely undecipherable but it doesn’t matter because your head is too busy nodding along to the rhythms. Songs of Worship has been a long time in the making. Sons of Otis formed back in 1992 (originally as Otis but had to change their name due to a conflict with an already existing band of the same name) and after many label problems and such they have just been pushed back. A couple other albums have surfaced; one on Mans Ruin and the other on the Canadian label Hypnotic. Now with the Music Cartel backing them there is no telling what this sludge rock band is capable of.
