Carolyn Mark uses wit and good acoustic melodies. And there's plenty here to enjoy. If you don't catch the humor, there's even a laugh track to remind you to laugh on "Not Talk."
She can pick up the tempo if she has to on my favorite track, "Mellie's Book." Mark doesn't need a lot of time to make her point. Poor Farmers is finished at 2:02. It's one of three songs less than 3:00.
Whether or not she's using a metaphor, it's overkill to use the same promiscuous term in two different song titles. But the hooks do make the songs effective. The album is devoid of filler.
The album could use some more songs as catch of "Poor Farmers" or "Baby Goats." Special effects on the album don't always work. Gargling noises can be left off future albums.
Keep it fun Carolyn, like on the title track (love those background vocals).
