Casey Hurt started playing guitar at an early age. He's played to sold out crowds in Oregon and California. He has such a voice full of mojo and it's evident that he pours his heart and soul into his music. When I listen to his song "Prodigal Son" I feel like I'm on Bourbon St. on a hot summer's night sitting in a small bar taking in the local sounds. His voice penetrates the soul.

The song "Into Your Arms" has more of a soft rock sound. He sounds as if he's really lived the lyrics. The song "Family" has a soft drum background and mixed with his soulful voice really works well. It also has a beautiful string section. His voice flows so smoothly and it draws me in and touches something deep in my spirit. I really like the line "I'll be scared if you're scared / Don't matter what the fear is as long as we can have it together. The song "Your Only Man" has beautiful lyrics such as "I won't stop taking chances when it comes to loving you."

Much to my surprise and utter delight he went a totally different way with the song "Mary Mary." After hearing the smooth mellow sounds of the other songs, it was great to hear him really rock on this one. It's so great to hear an artist who has the voice to handle the smooth mellow sounds and the rock sounds! On the song "Two Masters" he delivers the line "A man can't love what he can't believe. Coupled with the violin in the background, it sent chills down my spine. I can really hear the influences of Tracy Chapman in his music.

These songs have certainly produced an intense feeling of pleasure that's hard to find in most of today's music. If you're expecting cookie-cutter music you will be sorely disappointed when you listen to this. Casey Hurt is the real thing and he consistently delivers a real and earthy sound. If you're longing for music that is real and genuine this is the album for you.
