It's a fact - there's space in the world for a new upbeat indie-pop-rock group. Let's be honest, when will there not be? As long as the songs are good quality, the vibe is positive and the people in the band are cool, there will always be room for one more. And another.
With their 10 track, self-titled debut, Royals Hoax are a Detroit trio who have announced their arrival on the scene with a superb LP of tracks that whip by in a stream of strong guitar lines, solid rhythms and tight vocals. The strongest song here is the insanely infectious 'Shiver Shake' (which comes with a ridiulous but fun video that takes off the flash mob phenomenon) - the chorus soars with the hand clap rhythm and shuffled feel of a song that knows it's going to sit in your brain and live there a while. Other top tracks include the softer (but still fun) 'Ooh La La' and the energetic 'Streets of Chicago'.
Overall this is an album to cheer up the bad days and make the good ones better. Even if some of the song lyrics aren't the happiest, you're still going to be tapping those feet of yours.
