The Idle Hands are a hard rocking, good time rock 'n' roll blues band from the North of England. As soon as I put this CD into the player I was rocking. This great album has many highlights for me 'Drive' a guitar fuelled, high octane romp with great riffs and a powerful solo is one. 'Weep and Moan' is another highlight, with great slide playing and a toe tapping groove. I can easily see why this band are popular with the festivals in the UK.
As a fan of great guitar playing I really enjoyed this album, the lead guitarist Dave Robinson plays with real blues passion. The whole band work beautifully together to give a fantastic overall sound but for me the guitar playing stands out. Dirty Old Rag gives us an insight into the acoustic side of the band, a much more traditional acoustic blues vibe here.
There's very little that I can say about this band that is not positive, if there is only one, very minor criticism, its that I think the lyrics have room for a little more originality. However, with such huge grooves, a strong vocalist and a tight rhythm section this is a minor complaint as this is a band I would love to see live.
The album rocks its way through 16 songs and I've had it on repeat for a week now!
