From the dramatic introduction of opener 'Tell Me The Truth' to the closing chords of eponymous final track 'Pilgrim Angry', this classy debut is one to enjoy. Bringing together influences from the worlds of rock and classical music (including full on strings and brass sections), this LP is a dark, theatrical treat that has an immediate impact from first listen. Initial impressions lead automatically to Muse comparisons thanks to the complex melodies and blended genres, but there's something darker about 'Out of the Blue' that it's tough to put your finger on.

This is not music that could be labelled 'catchy' and those raised on a staple diet of middle of the road, radio friendly tunes will probably find it challenging, but the level of musicianship on show is genuinely impressive and music lovers will find plenty to sink their teeth into. Highlights include 'Call My Name', a strings filled, dark, slow build gem which thankfully bears no resemblance to the Cheryl Cole song of the same name, and 'No More Questions', which is more piano based and features an instrumental section that would be at home in a classic movie soundtrack.

There are moments in the middle of the album ('Head') where the momentum sags slightly, but overall there's far more to recommend than dislike. If you like your music dark, complex, dramatic and compelling, this album will sit well in your collection.
