Jason Pierce comes across as an arrogant man. I had the opportunity to meet him a few years back when they were supporting Radiohead and the whole band was very personable but Jason came across as just to good for the average fan. I guess it is true when they say that meeting an idol can be disappointing. Any way, after Jason got rid of his entire band (the guys that were personable went on to form Lupine Howl) he sat down to try and figure out what he was to do next. Let It Come Down is an over the top extravaganza! Jason may be arrogant but the guy sure knows how to write rock music. The album utilizes over 100 musicians including a core band of 13 people and strings, horns, brass, and a gospel choir. Forget every impression that you have of Spiritualized because Jason has recreated the band from ground up as a complete musical experience. Think of the London Symphony Orchestra doing Pink Floyd and then add the charisma of Jason to the forefront and your halfway to realizing the power of Let It Come Down. Spiritualized provides an example of forgiving a person for their behavior in exchange for bigger and better things.
