What is all the hype about? The Strokes are one of the most talked about bands on our shore this year. I am awaiting their full-length debut Is This It which should be in my box any day so I thought I would whet my whistle with their single which came out earlier this year. In the vein of many classic rock bands that push boundaries like Television and Velvet Underground, the Strokes single for “The Modern Age provides a great glimpse of what we can expect on their upcoming full-length. It is true rock n roll that pays tribute to many bands but manage to avoid ripping them off completely. All three of the songs on this single are actually on Is This It but if you are just looking for a taste of what this cocky band is all about then try this on for size first.
