Most of you, at some point in your musical journeys, will have come across a quaint little band that seems perfectly harmless but in their own way have changed rock music. I am of course talking about the mighty Sunny Day Real Estate. Their album Diary is one of those albums that no one really noticed when it first came out. A harmless band out of Seattle in the midst of the grunge years created a powerful and emotional album that none had really come across before. The band didn't really even know that their music was going to be a blueprint for many other bands and a sub-genre (emo) to be born from it. In fact the band broke up less than a year later just before their sophomore album was to be released. Lead singer and songwriter Jeremy Enigk's voice may not be the best on this album (try out 2000s The Rising Tide for the difference. Other bands have been trying for years to equal the emotional intensity found on Diary. This Sunny Day Real Estate album is a true classics.
