Swell couldn’t have come up with a better name for themselves. Although the band has changed a bit over the years their sound remains to be a melancholic sound that does nothing more than hypnotize the listener into believing this is the best music they have ever heard. They key here, of course, is to listen to a Swell album over headphones and late in the evening. Swell is somehow both dark and uplifting at exactly the same time. Dark overtones are given off while still remaining optimistic. Swell plays with both an aggressive and a subdued guitar while maintaining mostly mellow vocals. You will find a few songs from their Feed album interspersed among Everybody Wants To Know, so if you enjoyed Feed you will know what you are getting into. Everybody Wants To Know is Swell’s sixth studio album and all the songs were written by bandleader David Freel. Get caught up in Swell’s euphoric pop.
