You may remember Mark Olson as a founding member of the seminal Jayhawks. When Gary Louris and Mark parted ways a few years back it wasn't due to disrespect, it was because they were going in different musical directions. Mark was after a more earthy non-commercial Americana feel and you can tell that he found what he was looking for on his first solo outing (his third with the Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers). After helping out his wife, Victoria Williams do the same sort of thing I don't think that it would have been hard for him to dust off the instruments and play to his hearts content. On My Own Jo Ellen, Mark is helped out by Victoria on every song. The harmonies that the two acheive are sweet and you can feel the love they have for each other. Although he is missed with the Jayhawks you can tell that he is much more content doing his own thing.
