The term "No Depression" was made for the likes of Tom Phillips. And Constant Sorrow just seems to fit the bill as well. This is what great country music should sound like with titles like "Gravity of Ruin", "I Can't Win For Losin' You Tonight", and "Smoke Stains On My Window". Tom's most infamous song "Ribbons and Bows" is included as well. The lyrics "that's the way it goes / Ribbons and Bows / Turn into chains" just pull you in and have you rooting for him all the way. Not all extremely depressing though, he does have some other upbeat tracks on it. If you ever get to Calgary be sure to catch Tom and the boys at King Henry VIII on 8th ave SW Saturday evenings.
