Quinimine - Filaments EP
Quinimine is a gentle being that could easily break if shaken too hard. This band formed in 1998 and has been fairly reclusive since. The band plays music by barely playing anything at all and very slowly too. The main members of Quinimine are Gary Jansz and Alice Cantine and other members include Peter X and Keith Marchand. Filaments includes an appearance by A Silver Mount Zion cellist, Beckie Foon. There are only 5 songs on Filaments and two of them are covers (Kurt Weill’s “September Song and the traditional “Knoxville Girl). Their music is quiet with each pluck of the guitar string a highlight and every breathy vocal is treasured. Quinimine have provided a very special album that will be treasured by fans of the quiet music like Low and Lambchop.
