J.Majik used to record under the name DJ Dextrous so you may already be aware of Jamie Spratling. He has been on Goldie’s Metalheadz crew for a while (his is actually one of the youngest members) but before that he was putting 12s out on the Planet Earth label. This is J.Majik’s first Drum ‘n’ Bass mix and it’s no slouch either. Goldie has referred to J.Majik as “The Luke Skywalker of drum ‘n’ bass which really isn’t that far off. He was producing albums when he was 14 years old. 10 years later brings him to this mix album and a look back on some important music that made J what he is today. He includes a couple of his original compositions like “Tell Me and “Solarize as well as many of the genre’s key artists. Optical, Adam F (with whom J.Majik tours quite a bit with), Dillinja, Bad Company, and Futurebound & Protocol are just a few of the artists included on the 16 tracks that are finely mixed together. This is a powerful compilation of DNB, which proves that the genre is still alive and kicking. It seems like Drum ‘n’ Bass artists are like punk musicians. They are always worried about remaining relevant.
