The Sadies have started something that they can’t stop. They are trying out anything with roots. Don’t worry about them moving away from their own roots (spaghetti western style music) because there is loads of that on Tremendous Efforts (“Empty the Chamber). But what they are doing is reaching out further than they ever have before. Not only are the Sadies hot on Tremendous Efforts, they recorded it at Greg Keelor’s (Blue Rodeo) farm. You know, the place where 5 Days was recorded. And not only was it recorded there, Blue Rodeo helps out on numerous tracks. And to top it off, this tremendous effort was produced by non-other than Steve Albini. Have I got you interested yet? In addition to their trademark Spaghetti sound, The Sadies move into a little more twang and traditional country. It sounds sweeter than anything they have done so far. There is a nice variety of styles and the Blue Rodeo influence is greatly appreciated. This is a must for any Americana fans.
