England's Trembling Blue Stars is a somber affair with it's lilting melodies and meloncholic vocals. Former Field Mice member Bob Wratten has discovered a chemistry that works brilliantly. In ways the music is very atmospheric and is a perfect prelude to bedtime. Not saying that the music puts you to sleep but it is very relaxing and at times totally mezmerising. The band has been putting out material for almost a decade now and finally have found the right channels (sub pop) in order to bring their music to a North American audience. There are times when you just want to shake Wratten and let him know that life really could be worse ("Sometimes I Still Feel the Bruise") but you hold off because the outcome is so beautiful. Sit back and revel in someone elses misery and find out for yourself how sweet and beautiful a whisper can be.
