Mint is about to bring you yet another alt-Country diva in the form of Tennessee Twin. Tennessee Twin is actually better known as Lucinda Marie Wolfe or even more personal would be Cindy. Her identical twin sister is the Allison from Bratmobile but don’t be expecting any of the riot grrrl stuff on Free To Do What. Once Mint Records caught wind of Cindy’s country act when she moved to Vancouver it was like a done deal. The music on Free To Do What is as country as one can get. There is lapsteel and twang all over the album and Cindy’s drawl helps make it seem like the real thing. Her band is made up of all sorts of musicians and her touring band is like a revolving door. She is not picky as long as the sound is right. The songs Ms. Wolfe has written for her debut are very clever. Song titles such as “The Apple of Your Black Eye and “These Thoughts Are Occupied just hint at the country brilliance that she possesses.
