Wilco - Being There
Being There is yet another one of those albums that is a career high. It's almost as if once you make that particular album you should just quit and leave a good taste in your fans ears (well not really but I'm sure some people would agree). Former member of Uncle Tupelo, the band whose album of a similar name is where the name "No Depression" came from, Jeff Tweedy's amazing band threw together this little masterpiece in 1996. The wonderous thing about Being There is just how many styles and sounds Wilco goes through in 19 tracks. Exploring every end of roots rock to it's fullest. With everyone in the band being capable of playing a wide range of instruments it allows a more diverse album. Jeff Tweedy is in his career songwriting high here too. The clever "Outasite (Outta Mind)" and the bookend "Outta Mind (Outtasite)" is just amazing. Or the way that the album starts with the self-confessional "Misunderstood" and ends off with Tweedy screaming 'Nothin Nothin Nothin". Wilco is in fine pop form on "I got you (and thats all I need). Happiness and heartbreak and life questions are all sung about. All in all this is a must have for any music fan.
