Om puts out yet another winning release. Kin Kooba has put together one of this years best electronica funk albums complete with trumpet weaving in and out. Some fail with doing this and the recordings come off sounding too artificial. King Kooba sound real and sounds good too. King Kooba is basically two men, Charlie 6:8 Tate and DJ Shuff. Charlie perfected his jazz skills playing bass for Neneh Cherry. Once the two started putting out singles in late 97 and early 98 they started picking up recognition worldwide. The two rounded out a live group and took their show on the road to gain even more exposure. This album maintains that live feel that the group has; containing live instrumentation and vocalists. King Kooba raises the bar and introduces the world to future funk. At times laid back and loungy and others a little more kicking but never obtrusive.
