RecommendPay attention to Kelly Willis. She is an original country singer/songwriter which are very few and far between these days. On 3 tracks she teams up with Jayhawks Gary Louris and some of the cover she chooses are amazing ("They're Blind" - Replacements, "Time Has Told Me" - Nick Drake). Dave McNair manages to produce with enough subtlety that nothing comes of too polished. She hits that perfect mix between country and rock without leaning too much either way. Kelly, please don't make us wait another 6 years to hear your voice again.
