And now for something completely different. Chris Vrenna, Grammy award winning artist and former Nine Inch Nails drummer/programmer has been asked to do the soundtrack for Electronic Arts’ Alice in Wonderland themed video game entitled American McGee’s Alice. What he has created is another world entirely (quite appropriate given the circumstances). Alice ends up getting a dark and evil face lift that is spookier than the story itself. Vrenna has created a beautifully dark instrumental piece, which might be surprising coming from a former Nine Inch Nails member. But if you think about 9IN you will recall some pretty crafty melodies and an instrumental album isn’t that much of a stretch for Chris. What we get with Alice is a very dark electronica instrumental. Six Degrees was right in thinking that this music stands up without the video game to go along with. The music is operatic in nature and very creative. Chris Vrenna has proven himself and provided a very enthralling listen for anyone willing to venture out beyond the conventional norms. He is most definitely an adaptable musician/songwriter/composer.
