Big name country tributes are turning out to be a big-ticket item and full of quality renditions. It all started with the Gram Parsons Tribute that Emmylou Harris had so much to do with. Then came the amazing Bruce Springsteen Nebraska tribute. Now it is time to pay tribute where tribute is due, Hank Williams. He is indeed timeless and the artists that were chosen to partake in this project do an amazing job on giving the man a worthy album of remembrance. There are some amazing renditions included on Timeless. The most worthy of mention has to be Beck’s spooky “You’re Cheatin’ Heart that will spook almost any of his fans. Another pleasant surprise has to be Keith Richards’ drunken swagger in “You Win Again. I think he has found his calling as a country singer. Who’s who in the roots world are represented here and there really isn’t a stinker on the album. Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, Keb Mo, Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty, Emmylou Harris, Hank Williams’ grandson Hank III, Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, and a dark version of “I dreamed about mama last night brought to you by non other than Johnny Cash. This collection is not just for Hank fans. Any fans of any of these artists will get full enjoyment out of Timeless.
