Koop is the lovely result of a partnership between Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson. They have stated that Koop means co-operation and that’s just what the duo do on Waltz for Koop. They have an array of collaborators that they use on this slab of smooth jazzy beats to realize the co-operation moniker of their name. First off, Koop could be considered smooth jazz. There is absolutely nothing grating or difficult on the album. Beats are quite and gentle even though they have the steady pulse that keeps them pumping. The vocalists that Koop uses on here consist of newcomers Cecilia Stalin and Yukimi Nagano who both have marvelous voices as well as seasoned vetrans like Earl Zinger and Terry Callier who both contributed their lyrics in writing as well as singing. Groups like Thievery Corporation would do good by checking into Koop’s secrets. The duo is able to use todays technology to create a classic that could have been released years ago. This is an album to sit down with and enjoy repeated listens. It just gets better and better ever time. For a limited time you get a DVD-EP included with the release with videos and more.
