As I have said before, the British hip-hop scene seems to be flourishing. I know there are some hot artists breaking in America but none seem to be as fresh and exciting as a lot of the British artists. And Big Dada/Ninja Tunes have been on top of the scene watching it break and putting out a lot of this stuff in North America for us to experience. The thing that makes the UK hip hop scene so unique is the rhythm thing. Artists seem to incorporate more diverse influences and beats into their music and flow like there’s going to be no tomorrow. Roots Manuva has been lucky enough to sort of break in North America and he is included on this fine compilation. Have a listen to the smooth flowing “Killer Apps by Gamma featuring Shadowless. It has a huge reggae influence but the sampling and production is like nothing you have ever heard before. The 2-step thing is incorporated into many tracks and it’s just a natural progression of rap. Big Dada recording artist, Ty is also included in a killer track called “Don’t Care that is really intense. Extra Yard is a great introduction to the UK hip-hop scene and the Big Dada roster.
