RecommendMatador's Funky Precedent is back for another round. After garnering worldwide attention with their first album (Jurassic 5 and Dilated Peoples were included on it) they have decided to look even further to the underground for Vol. 2. In order to do so, they have looked even further down the California coast and drug up a whole bunch of quality underground hip-hop acts. The only artist's that I recognize on here are Rasco and Live Human. Don't let that scare you off though because The Funky Precedent is stronger than ever and funkier than almost all the mainstream rap that's happening today. I found my head nodding to almost every track on this compilation. There are some that are even outstanding like the album opener "Here We Come"? from Skhool Yard. This is not only a testament of what's happening in the California hip-hop scene but a damn fine compilation that will stand up against any other hip-hop album out right now.
