Cradle Of Filth is a band that revels in controversy. If you listen to their music you are bound to go out and rape and pillage, vandalize and destroy, kill and maim. Whatever!! Cradle of Filth has been one of the most more consistent black metal bands of the last few years. Midian is no exception. It was produced by John Fryer (instantly recognized for his work with Nine Inch Nails) and could be considered one of the bands best efforts to date. The guitar work on here is some of the heaviest stuff I have heard and the songs suit the guitar trade off completed with Dani's vocals. The overtone keyboards just lend to the overall dark feeling of the entire album never mind the occasional haunting ghost sounds. If you are unfamiliar with the Black Metal that's on the market today and would like to turn to the dark side, you may as well start with one of the originators. They do get off on a lot of schtick but when it comes to the music they really do deserve the attention that they get.
