This new progressive/hardcore band from New Jersey is really captivating in many ways. Their big thing is that music encompasses many different ideals and has a broad foundation so why would any band restrict themselves to one genre. The Postman Syndrome does not restrict itself at all. In fact, they throw so many different styles in that it makes them extremely diverse. I could see a fan of Radiohead getting into this hardcore band while The Dillinger Escape Plan fans would appreciate where they are headed. Extreme enough for you? They also have Tool tendencies as well as System Of A Down. The band features a whopping three guitarists and one bassist who all sing. This is also rare in the hardcore scene. Vocalists who actually sing let alone 4 of them. There are math rock overtones on many of the songs before they break into their melodic harmonies. While many may see the Postman Syndrome as a hardcore band with an identity crisis, you have to appreciate that they leave no stone unturned. It’s an amazing display of diverse song craftsmanship.
