I know it's been and gone and you can't really use the same term again but Queens Of The Stone Age is what grunge should have been. Thick juicy bottom end guitar riffs along soaring vocals. I know some fans were pissed off at R but that's only because they are afraid of change. Josh Homme and company are forward thinkers and if they wanted to recreate the sound that they perfected in their former life, Kyuss, there would be no challenge in that. The two QOTSA original members Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri trade off vocals on R as well as allow Mark Lanegan the honors on "In The Fade". Other fellow Screaming Tree, Barrett Martin, joins in with his percussive talents on a couple tracks. Aside from the quickly annoying opening chant of "Feel good hit of the summer", this is a good vision of where heavy rock is going in the future and the future looks great.
