While Layo & Bushwacka’s debut album, Low Life, was an amazing album, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Night Works is the album that they have been leading up to and have been working on a bigger and broader canvas. L&B have found a way to bring beat heavy music to the public with out the super pounding beats. Your ass will still be shaking but this stuff isn’t as in your face as some of the other electronica artists on the scene. They also mix their tracks together into one seamless mix, something that isn’t done that much with completely original albums. This is downtempo but you have to be aware that there is plenty of grooves to make you move. Take their first single, “Love Story for instance. It starts off fairly gentle but it gets rolling pretty decently, almost aproaching club style. There is a wide variety of styles on Night Works all with the nocturnal feel to them. Layo and Bushwacka should see recognition for this album now that they have proper distribution and a strong album like Night Works.
