When Souldivider kicks in with the album opener, “Second Ride, I can’t help but think of early Motley Crue’s “Live Wire. Now, imagine if you will, Motley Crue raised on the likes of Kyuss and Fu Manchu instead of wearing all the hairspray and make-up and that’s pretty close to what Souldivider sounds like. The band formed early 1999 in Karlstad, Sweden and has released two previous CD’s before The Big Relax. The guitars have Black Sabbath written all over them, especially “Strange Feeling 4AM. Taking lessons from fellow Swedes, The Hellacopters, Souldivider is capable of sonic riffs and very good songwriting. I have heard people saying that this type of rock has been overdone but I beg to differ when a band like this is able to come out of the blue and knock people flat on their Asses. The band is more than capable of playing the thunderous sound that has become affectionately known as Stoner Rock. Souldivider will be a force to be reckoned with. Watch for their follow-up full length due this summer.
