Static-X - Machine
I know I'm not supposed to like Static-X. I know they are just a contrived metal band that steals from every type of industrial metal going (Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Korn) but there is just something that grabs about Wayne Static and his troupe of metal-heads. I've even read one review that states "Static-X is metal machine music for post-modern robots"?. Maybe that's what I am as I sit and pound away on one of my many computers. It's like Static-X gets into that zone that is familiar to ravers and DJ's but instead of techno music it's heavy industrial mechanical metal. I could see some DJ taking the material that is on machine and working it into their set. It's that sort of beat heavy material that we are talking about here. A lot of the music is very monotone but again, rhythm is the heart of all music, isn't it? That's where this album is coming from. There are plenty of things to hate about Static-X but somewhere in the cacophony of things I actually enjoy the band. Decide for yourself.
