Taproot - Gift
After all the hype with this band (Limp Bizkit’s front-man Fred Durst was bound and determined to get Taproot to sign to his label but much to his dismay, they chose to sign with Atlantic) there really never was much follow-up to it. Gift came out without much hoopla and all of a sudden there is nothing left. It seems strange why Fred would have been so invested in this band because it’s lacking the rap metal that Durst is so fond of. Taproot have more in common with mood metallers Deftones than with Durst’s band. What about the music? Well, Taproot is a very talented heavy band even though they may not be all that original. Gift is full of that heavy style that bands like System Of A Down have done and even though Taproot may have the sound down better than the other bands they were a bit too long coming out with Gift. They don’t rely on gimmicks, only talented band members. The band is good though and it will be interesting to see where these Michigan boys go from here.
