We Talked About Murder is a fairly new band from the Austin, TX area. Their whole reason for rocking is to turn up the volume. The music is jerky and a little sporadic but Expecting the Explosion is a very decent debut album. Tim Kerr (The Makers, Mooney Suzuki) was called in for production and did a fairly decent job. I do feel that there could have been a little more efforts in this area but the album still has merits that warrant a review. Songwriting is tight and the band sounds totally original. There is some tightening up that needs to happen. There are times when the band does sound a little immature but I think that will get ironed out over time. I like their post/punk sound and their vision is for something different. I think they just need to discover what that is.
