It’s been a while since I have heard the likes of Yesterday’s Kids. They have a bit of a retro feel to them but they rock out like there’s no tomorrow and they have hooks big enough to catch a swordfish. The band is from a town called Neenah, WI and have been around for a couple of years, this being their sophomore album. They have some of the sensiblities that the Replacements had but lean a little more to the pop side. Guitars are crunchy yet catchy. The vocals are awesome and the harmonies are fantastic. Can’t Hear Nothin’ is a great example that guitar rock can be fun and relevant. The songwriting is strong and the band is not afraid to go into a few different styles. “What I’ve Become is a track that has a bit of a reggae feel to it and it’s done very well. The music, in general, is very upbeat and pleasant. I would say that Lookout is very happy to be distributing Yesterday’s Kids.
