The Emo Diaries is quite a unique series in the fact that they mostly focus on bands who aren't signed yet and who are still relatively obscure. The great thing about it is that you can skip to pretty much any track on this disc and the track is bloody amazing. The one band that is signed on this compilation is The White Octave which in fact are signed to Deep Elm. The band Eniac is my favorite with a track entitled "I'll Never Get Home" which utilizes the full meaning of "emo". On Kerith Ravine's "Two Empty Bottles" I had to do a double take that it wasn't a Smashing Pumpkins track that got lost along the way. Some tracks hit high while others don't really make the grade such as Cast Aside's "Racecar Theory" which is caught somewhere between death metal and the Donna's. I'm sure The Emo Diaries is a showcase for bands that Deep Elm are thinking about picking up. A good way to do it.
